Legislation
Current Legislation
The California Library Association advocates on library issues. Annually, the association develops a Legislative Agenda, monitors legislation, takes positions on issues and keep members informed on the status of bills of interest and concern to the association. As needed, Legislative Alerts are distributed on the CLA listserv, CALIX, and are posted to the website. CLA's lobbyists prepare a report on the Status of Current Legislation periodically throughout the session. If you have library legislative questions, you may reach CLA's lobbyists, Christina and Michael Dillon, at 916-448-2196.
Annually, CLA sponsors two events for members, Day in the District and Library Legislative Day, to meet with legislators and staff on library issues. 2009 Day in the District meetings will be held on January 30 and February 6. Legislative Day will be on April 15 in Sacramento.
